Thread Veins

Small blood vessels near the skin's surface, which appear as tiny, twisted, purple, blue or red lines are commonly known as thread veins (telangiectasia, dermal flares, broken veins or spider veins).  There cause has been assigned to hereditary factors, pro-longed standing, alcohol, weight, pregnancy and hormonal factors.

Thread veins can be very embarrassing, especially when they are on your face or legs and can cause serious distress.  Thanks to modern laser technology this embarrassment can be easily curtailed.  Our laser treatments can remove the appearance of these unsightly veins through a course of treatment where the laser light targets blood in the vessels, destroying them whilst leaving surrounding structures in the skin undamaged.  Port wine stains and flat purplish birthmarks can be treated in a similar way.  The treatment of thread veins depends on their size and location, please contact us to arrange a consultation to assess suitability of laser thread vein removal.
